How to Score 200+ in CUET (According to Last Year's Toppers)

Vidyex Editorial Team·Mar 5, 2026·8 min read

We interviewed 15 students who scored 200+ in CUET 2025. Despite coming from different cities, backgrounds, and subjects — they all shared 7 common strategies.

1. They Started with NCERT — and Stuck with It

Every single topper emphasized that NCERT textbooks are the backbone of CUET preparation. 80-85% of questions are directly or indirectly from NCERT content.

2. They Took Mock Tests Early and Often

The average topper took 40+ mock tests before the exam. They didn't wait until they felt "ready" — they started mocking from day one and used the results to guide their study.

3. They Mastered Time Management

CUET gives roughly 45 minutes per section. Toppers practiced finishing in 35-38 minutes, leaving buffer time for review and double-checking.

4. They Focused on Weak Areas, Not Strong Ones

It's tempting to keep revising topics you're already good at. Toppers resisted this urge and spent 60% of their time on weak chapters.

5. They Practiced on the Actual NTA Interface

Many students lose 10-15 marks just because they're unfamiliar with the CBT interface. Toppers practiced on NTA-replica simulators so the interface felt natural on exam day.

6. They Solved PYQs Religiously

Previous year questions (2022-2025) reveal patterns in what NTA likes to test. Toppers solved every available PYQ at least twice.

7. They Didn't Burn Out

Consistent 4-5 hour focused study beats erratic 10-hour sessions. Every topper we interviewed took at least one full day off per week.
